SAFETY TIPS YOU NEED TO KNOW WHILE DRIVING

As more people hit the road and drive to work, school, or any other destination, safety is becoming more and more of an issue. While driving schools Pittsburgh help people learn how to be safer on the road, these safety tips should also be considered by drivers of all skill levels. By following these tips, you can ensure a safe and pleasant ride no matter where you’re going or what time of day it is.

1) Stay off your phone

Keep your hands on the wheel and never take your eyes off the road. Stay off your phone, but if you’re going to use it, look up every now and then. Keep your car in good shape so it operates well in any kind of weather or situation. Always pay attention and think before acting: what do I have time for? Is this a safe thing to do? Last, maintain a safe distance from other cars on the road and make sure drivers can see you coming.

2) Don’t tailgate

Tailgating is when the driver of a car follows too closely behind the vehicle in front of them. It causes drivers to not be able to see what is coming up ahead, which can lead to bad accidents. As an example, if another driver cuts into your lane suddenly or stops suddenly, there will be little time for you to react if you’re following close behind. The driving schools Pittsburgh, properly explains how to avoid tailgate.

3) Keep your headlights on during the day

Keep your headlights on during the day so other drivers can see you. Have your headlights, high beams, and emergency lights turned off when not in use or when their use is prohibited by law. You should never drive with high beams at night; this puts the light from your vehicle directly into the eyes of other drivers and makes it hard for them to see anything in front of them.

4) Stay focused on the road

Focus on the road and not on your cellphone. Keep your distance from other cars and check your mirrors before changing lanes. Make sure you keep plenty of stopping distance between yourself and the car in front of you. If a car suddenly swerves into your lane, avoid them with all costs by going into the other lane or turning sharply if possible. Stay away from animals, even if they are friendly.
